Moving Along

Below is a recap of our last brainstorm. Please feel free to update if I've omitted or erroneously reported anything.

Marina reported her discoveries on the banners. She is reviewing what art the manufacture has to offer and will bring her findings to the next meeting for everyone to view. Based on the groups feeling, we will either go with designs they offer or move forward requesting designs from local artists. It may be that we can produce more banners than needed at this site and offer them for sale to help raise funds - just an idea - thoughts?

Marina also reported on conversations with the USFS. It may be that they will repaint their building and signage is quite probable. Marina also brought a informational dvd focused on sign development that will be really helpful.

Josef brought two of his beautiful metal fish to help us visualize what is possible. I asked if he and Susan could lead the design for Area ONE continuing with the concept Jesef offered of the transition from salt to fresh water. Susan, sound ok?

I (sue) offered to present a design for Area THREE, the 'L' shaped site at the north end of the dock. This area has been determined for a good site to present a 'Welcome to Petersburg' sign/message. Chris is looking into how much footage the city will allow us to use for this purpose.

Chris reported that the project deadline may be extended three months. The group felt it would be best to continue with an August deadline with the hopes to complete the work before the end of the summer.

Fused Glass Fish

or fused glass something. I've been thinking about this as an element that could add cohesiveness throughout the project. It would resist our weather and we could use recycled materials. I've ordered a book on fusing glass... anyone know of a kiln and kiln operator we could partner with? An other element I've been thinking of is making mosaic elements using the glass from the old dump site.
